The Amador Winegrowers Association is located in Amador County, 40 miles east of Sacramento, nestled in the Sierra Foothills of California. Viticulture is deeply rooted in this region, with the oldest documented vineyard dating back to 1869. There are two distinct American Viticultural Areas “AVA”, California Shenandoah Valley AVA and the Fiddletown AVA. Vineyards grown in Amador range from 250 feet to 2900 feet in elevation, creating diverse microclimates for nearly 40 grape varieties to thrive.
